Vonage to Pay $4.7 Million to Settle Class Action Lawsuit

Does Vonage owe you money? Customers have until July 11 to seek restitution for charges related to "one month free" and "money back guaranteed" offers.

Vonage Holdings of Holmdel will pay $4.7 million in claims to certain customers in a class action lawsuit filed in 2008.

The final approval order and judgment was accepted and filed with the US District Court court on May 12, 2011. Claims must be made before July 11, 2011. The claim form is available here

The lawsuit concerns Vonage’s promotional “one month free” and “money back guarantee” offers and certain charges (disconnection, cancellation and termination fees, and subscription fees despite requests for cancellation), which claimants alleged violated the law.

Vonage denied any wrongdoing, but said it would agree to settle to avoid the burden and cost of fighting it in court.

Claimants may receive monetary benefits between $10 and $80 dollars per claim, depending on the type of claim and eligibility.
