Sunday is Ocean Day at the Hook

Correction: Patch incorrectly listed the date of this event. The date is May 22. Head out to Sandy Hook Sunday for some hands on, scaly fun at the NJ Sea Grant Consortium. This low key event is good for young children and adults and is FREE.

If you thought all there was to Sandy Hook was the beach and traffic jams you are missing out on a world of wildlife. This Sunday families can get a look, and a feel, of the creatures of the sea at Ocean Day. The NJ Sea Grant Consortium, at the far end of the Hook, is partnering with NJ Natural Gas to bring the public classes, exhibits (touch tanks!), nature tours and children's activities all centered around the sea. The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
