Contest to Get Fireworks Show Off to a Bang

You can help Red Bank and Kaboom by entering Liberty Mutual's online contest, even if you stink at history trivia.

Nothing says Fourth of July like fireworks.

But in recent years, many towns have had to cancel or scale back their Independence Day events, when funding ran short. Recently, Red Bank announced a new funding plan that includes charging some viewers.

To take the edge of the funding woes of towns around the country, from now through June 14, Liberty Mutual Insurance is hosting, “Bring Back the 4th,” an online contest that supports local community fireworks displays.  You can enter for a chance to win one of ten $10,000 grants to support the KaBoom Fireworks here in Red Bank.

All you need to do is visit www.BringBackThe4th.com between now and June 14 and take a brief multiple choice quiz called "Responsible Moments in U.S. History." Each completed quiz counts as one credit towards your town's total score. Given the Red Bank guest editor's pitiful score, we're thankful that you don't have to answer the questions correctly to qualify.

Towns with the highest quiz participation will be eligible to win one of 10 Bring Back the 4th grants, distributed via three population-based categories: small (4 grants), medium (3 grants) and large (3 grants). The contest allows for one quiz per person, and winners will be announced the week of June 20.
