Dreaming of a White Halloween

Snow, er, wintry mix, has hit the Red Bank area. Hide your kids, hide your wife!

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for much of the Northeastern coast of the United States including the Jersey Shore and much of Monmouth County. The advisory is set to expire at 2 a.m. Sunday.

The weather service expects snow and wintry mix conditions to continue throughout the day Saturday and into the night with the weather causing travel difficulties. The weather service warns drivers to expect delays and plan for slippery roads and limited visibility.

Though not much snow is expected to accumulate, there is concern that tree branches, still covered with leaves for the most part, will fall under the weight of what does accumulate, causing power outages in some spots. Jersey Central Power and Light has reported some small outages, with Monmouth County towns like Holmdel and Matawan registering the highest numbers of estimated outages with 102 and 115, respectively, early Saturday afternoon.
