Extra Trains on North Jersey Coast Line for NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade

NJ Transit announced they will be offering extra trains to accomodate the increase in passengers on Saturday, March 16, 2013.

NJ Transit is planning to increase train and bus service around the state on Saturday, March 16 in anticipation of the annual New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade, according to a press release issued by the transit agency.

On the North Jersey Coast Line, two round trips will operate between Long Branch and New York Penn Station, providing local stops from Long Branch to Aberdeen-Matawan and stopping at Newark Airport, Newark Penn Station and Secaucus for inbound travel and providing all stops from New York to Long Branch for outbound travel. 

In addition, 7600-series trains will be extended to begin and end their trips at South Amboy or Aberdeen-Matawan and an extra inbound train will operation from Aberdeen-Matawan to New York Penn Station.

The transit agency asks passengers to remember that alcoholic beverages will not be permitted on any train to and from New York/Hoboken on March 16. 

Families traveling to the parade may take advantage of NJ Transit's Family Super Saver Fare, which allows up to two children ages five to 11 to ride free with a fare-paying adult every weekend from 7 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. Children under five are always free.
