First Scenes of Hurricane Irene in Red Bank

A short tour of Red Bank during Hurricane Irene. Shot just after midnight, prior to the storm's full strength.

With Hurricane Irene expected to show her full force in the Greater Red Bank area early Sunday morning, we hit the streets to capture some scenes just after midnight, as she had just begun to show her potential.

Few remained on the streets save for some few Department of Public Works employees, Red Bank Police in sports utility vehicles, and Red Bank Volunteer Firefighters.

With heavy rains and winds hitting the Jersey Shore, some flooding was already present in areas of downtown, including West Front Street. Along the shore, water was rising, splashing along piers where it normally sits, calm, at least a foot lower.
