Housing Development Proposed at Rt. 35 and Taylor Lane in Middletown

Public hearing Wednesday on American Properties at Middletown's plan to build 245 multifamily units on 31 acres

American Properties at Middletown is proposing a housing development for land at Route 35 and Taylor Lane. 

According to a public notice published on Nov. 21 in the Asbury Park Press, the developer is seeking approval for 245 multifamily units on approximately 31 acres.

The proposed use includes 196 market rate multifamily "stackable townhomes" and 49 affordable multifamily "flat" units, along with a 3,600-square-foot clubhouse and a pool for the community.

Traffic light, jug-handle and turn signal improvements, as well as a realignment of the northern portion of Taylor Lane to run directly across from Cherry Tree Farm Road, also are part of the plan.

American Properties has applied to the Middletown Planning Board for preliminary and final major site plan approval, preliminary and final major subdivision approval, bulk variance and design waivers in regard to premises located at Route 35 South and Taylor Lane, Middletown.

The application is available for review at the Planning Board office at Town Hall, 1 Kings Highway, Middletown, NJ 07748.

A public hearing is scheduled by the Middletown Township Planning Board at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Town Hall.

The applicant is represented by Hutt & Shimanowitz of Woodbridge.
