Navesink River Flooding with Sandy's Arrival

Marine Park is one of several riverside properties flooding early Monday.

It's still several hours before Hurricane Sandy is expected to show up on New Jersey's shores with her full force yet heavy winds combined with rain and a full moon tide have already caused the Navesink River to flood in several spots.

At Marine Park in Red Bank at around 10 a.m. the river had crept up onto the Red Bank Clay Courts and had overwhelmed the the park's bulkhead, covering pedestrian walking paths and spreading through the parking lot.

At Maple Cove the small pocket park was almost entirely underwater its reeds, some of them 10 feet tall, toppled by river water and rain. Currently the river is displaying white caps as gusts of wind have arrived along with Sandy.
