Victim of Sunday House Fire Dies

Reports indicate that Phyllis Rudrow succumbed to injuries following Sunday's fire.

According to a parishioner of Zion AME Church on Shrewsbury Avenue in Red Bank, Phyllis Rudrow died Wednesday after succumbing to injuries related to a weekend fire.

Rudrow was a member of the church's congregation.

Rudrow, 64, was pulled out of her home on Drs. James Parker Boulevard Sunday afternoon by two samaritans after her home caught fire. According to Red Bank Police Capt. Darren McConnell, Rudrow suffered second and third degree burns in the blaze and was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune in critical condition.

According to the fellow parishioner, who declined to be named, Rudrow was later transported to the Burn Center at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston. Staff on hand at the hospital declined to provide an update of Rudrow's status, but did say she was brought to the center in critical condition.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, though authorities do not suspect foul play. Damage to the house was significant, burning much of the front of the house and the roof before firefighters were able to get it under control.
