Two State Hotlines Established for Elevation Questions

Jersey Shore- Two state hotlines have been established to answer questions about elevating a home or business.

The hotlines can be used by any residents in Ocean and Monmouth counties as well as those in other counties hit hard by Superstorm Sandy.

Two More Long Branch Beaches Now Accessible

Long Branch- Temporary access to all of Long Branch beaches is being restored as the summer progresses.

Eleven of the city's 15 beaches had temporary access by the start of Memorial Day weekend, and now two more are open.

Sea Bright $1M Closer to Sandy Recovery with Essential Services Grant

With the dawn of the summer season and businesses starting to bounce back from Hurricane Sandy's decimation, Sea Bright is about $1 million closer to recovery.

The small peninsula borough left nearly flattened by the October 2012 storm was one of three municipalities and one county in the state to receive a total of $31 million in Essential Services Grants through the federal $1.8 billion Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery funding administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Gov. Chris Christie's administration announced.

FEMA Allocates $6M For Seaside Heights Boardwalk

Seaside- The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced it will provide Seaside Heights with $6.08 million toward the reconstruction of its boardwalk.

The entire reconstruction project cost $8.11 million.

Updated NYC Flood Maps Give Hope To Jersey Shore Residents

Jersey Shore- Jersey Shore residents placed into the dreaded 'V' zone in the Federal Emergency Management Agency's advisory flood maps released in late 2012 may soon see some relief, if an updated round of maps released for New York City residents is any indication.

The federal agency released preliminary flood maps – generally, the second-to-last step before final maps are issued – on Monday.

Menendez: New Flood Maps Will Be Released Monday With Scaled Back 'V' Zones

Jersey Shore- A new round of flood zone maps for four New Jersey counties are due out Monday, officials have confirmed.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's maps dictate flood risk, elevation and foundational requirements for construction purposes and, ultimately, determine the rate a homeowner will pay for flood insurance.

Long Branch OKs Deed for Beach Replenishment

Long Branch- Long Branch gave New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection a deed of easement so the Army Corps of Engineers can begin a sand replenishment at the city's beaches.

The easement is located on the beach at the end of Laird Street at Pier Village.

Sandy-Impacted Residents Urged To Apply For Home Demolition, Debris Removal Program

Jersey Shore- Berkeley Township residents who need help demolishing their homes or removing debris have until Friday to apply to the Private Property Debris Removal Program, Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr. said.

Berkeley has gone out to bid for contractors to do the work, the mayor said at the June 10 Township Council meeting.

Red Bank Hot for Dog Days of Summer

"Mayor, I just hope Red Bank isn't going to the dogs."

That's what Councilman Michael DuPont quipped at Wednesday night's Borough Council meeting when Mayor Pat Menna told of his plan for what has been dubbed Dog Days of Summer.

Nestle's $40 Million Plant Investment Approved by Planning Board

Freehold- The Borough Planning Board on Wednesday unanimously approved a major expansion of the Nestle plant on Jerseyville Avenue, officials said. 

The proposal now goes to the Freehold Township Planning Board for approval there. The 40-acre Nestle property straddles both towns.
