Wesleyan Arms Responds to Heat Emergency

The senior apartments complex assists its residents during recent heat wave.

With temperatures reaching as high as 100 degrees late last week, the staff at Wesleyan Arms on Wall Street in Red Bank responded by not only sending a memo out to residents with tips and suggestions on how to beat the heat, but also taking steps to ensure that residents remained safe throughout.

The staff at Wesleyan, a senior apartment complex with 60 units, set up a hydration station in the lobby that was kept stocked with bottled water. The emergency food closet was also full stocked in case of an extended power outage and throughout the day the complex’s most at-risk residents were checked up on to ensure that they were safe and comfortable.

Resident Council President Andrew Perrius, and others, prepared lunch in the Community Room and ran activities to encourage people to stay indoors. Residents enjoyed the camaraderie and beat the staff at Wii Bowling as well as beating the heat.
