New Jersey Election 2013: Republicans Hold 11th District

Democrats had a slight fundraising advantage in the legislative race.

Republican incumbent state Sen. Jennifer Beck and Assemblywomen Mary Pat Angelini and Caroline Casagrande won re-election despite a well-funded challenge by Democrats.

Beck, a Red Bank resident, bested Democratic state Senate candidate and Neptune Township Deputy Mayor Michael Brantley 30,362 votes to 19,617, according to unofficial election results from the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office with all but one district reporting. Independent candidate Marie E. Amato-Juckiewicz of Long Branch had 589 tallies.

In the Assembly race, Angelini of Ocean Township came out on top with 29,682 ballots, followed by Casagrande, a Colts Neck resident, with 28,680. Democratic candidate and Red Bank Councilman Edward Zipprich had 19,857 tallies and running mate, Neptune Township Committeeman Kevin McMillan, had 20,298.

Democrats raised $367,468 in the 11th District, including an influx of $87,970 to the candidates’ joint account in the final weeks of the campaign, according to New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission 11-day pre-election reports. Republicans raised $364,780.

The 11th District is comprised of Allenhurst, Asbury Park, Colts Neck, Deal, Eatontown, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Interlaken, Loch Arbour, Long Branch, Neptune, Neptune Township, Ocean Township, Red Bank, Shrewsbury Borough, Shrewsbury Township, Tinton Falls and West Long Branch.
