Red Bank Officials Cite 'Every Vote Counts' Lesson Learned in Lee's Loss

A look at election night in Democratic headquarters when the results came in.

Three-term Red Bank Borough Council incumbent Sharon Lee, in what officials stressed were unofficial vote counts, lost her bid for a fourth term by 25 votes.

That was the count without absentee and provisional ballots tallied on Tuesday night.

While officials hold out hope that the final tally including those votes will turn the tide of predicted loss, they, including Lee, stressed the importance of the "every vote counts" credo.

Former mayor Ed McKenna, while calling Lee one of the "absolute best" officials to serve the borough, also reminded those at Democratic headquarters that, in his mind, neither the fight nor Lee's dedication to serve is over.

While a re-count may come in the near future, Lee spoke about her nine years on council, her plans for the future and the campaign.

Take a look at the above video for a glimpse into the evening.
