Guests gather to sip and support the library

More than 130 people attended the Foundation for the Red Bank Public Library's Wine Tasting benefit which was held at the Red Bank "Eisner Memorial" Library on Tuesday, November 12th helping to raise more than $8,600.  Guests enjoyed holiday wines from The Wine Cellar and The Little Silver Bottle Shop paired with cheeses from The Cheese Cave.  The pairings were presented by Kirsty Niro, the Cork Maven, and Stephen Catania of The Cheese Cave.  Guests also sampled tasty treats from local establishments such as Readie's Cafe, The Melting Pot, No Joe's Cafe, Tavolo Pronto, Monmouth Meats, and Sugar Rush while enjoying live music by Sue Haugenes and John O'Neil.

Foundation President Audrey Oldoerp told the crowd that the library is the heart of every community quoting Lady Bird Johnson who once said “…no place in any community is so totally democratic as the town library. The only entrance requirement is interest.  She thanked everyone and asked for community support noting that the library cannot thrive with public funding alone.

A highlight of the evening was when Library Director Virginia Pappandrea presented the Foundation with a matching gift of $1,000.

The Foundation also wishes to thank the following sponsors for helping to make the event a fundraising success: Vintage Sponsor ($1,000): Councilwoman-elect Cynthia Burnham; Varietal Sponsors ($500): Lou DiMento & Remedios Quiroz; and Vin Nouveau Sponsors ($250): Senator Jennifer Beck,  Circle BMW, OceanFirst, Investors Bank, Brynes, O'Hern & Heugle, LLC, Marion Schloemer, FVP Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, and Foss, San Filippo & Milne, LLC.
