Train Donates $6K to Sandy Recovery

Sea Bright Rising has dubbed Train "the band that keeps on giving."

The reason: After donating much time, music and money to Sea Bright's Hurricane Sandy recovery, the band has just donated another $6,000 to the cause, according to Sea Bright Rising's Facebook page.

"It's unbelievable how generous, helpful and downright supportive they've been since day one," the post said. "… before Sandy, the band didn't know Sea Bright existed …"

But it didn't take long for Train musicians to find their way there.

In the beginning, it was a Rumson teen Charlotte Nagy's tweet and student documentary of the storm and its before and after effects that got the band to take notice. 

Since then, Train has come to Sea Bright to perform and cheer up storm victims and volunteers, offer assistance, money and moral support. 

It's been almost a year since Sandy tore apart the shores, residences and business district of Sea Bright. Recovery has been steady, but unavoidably slow at times, with yet more work to be done to make it complete.

The donation to the organization that sprouted out of Woody's Ocean Grille serving up hot meals to storm victims and volunteers and grew to collect and disburse more than $1 million in donations has special meaning, according to its founders.

"We're thrilled that Train and their management team loves Sea Bright … Incredible," the post continued to say. "THANK YOU THANK YOU. Words really can't express how you've helped."
