Exciting Family Events in the Local Area for the Upcoming Weekend

Fall is here, and what better way to celebrate than to enjoy some exciting festive adventures together with your kids.  My name is Stacey, and in addition to being a local Mom, I am the Publisher & Editor of Macaroni Kid Lincroft-Holmdel-Tinton Falls.  A wonderful resource for parents right in their own community, Macaroni Kid Lincroft-Holmdel-Tinton Falls is a local e-newsletter and website covering activities for children and their families in the towns of Tinton Falls, Lincroft, Holmdel, Shrewsbury, Red Bank, Colts Neck, Farmingdale, North Howell, Wall, Manasquan, Brielle, Pt. Pleasant, Howell, Lakewood, and Jackson!  As a Patch blogger, I intend to highlight great things for families to do in the local area.  Below are some highlights from your local Macaroni Kid for low cost and free activities for the whole family for this coming weekend; just click on the name of the event listed below for further details.

Eek-O-Fabulous Costume Swap - Free - Upcycle your gently used adults’, kids’, and even pet costumes for a spooktakular new-to- you ensemble. For each costume you bring you will receive a token entitling you to a “new” costume on the day of the swap (Sunday, October 13 at Thompson Park, Lincroft).  Trade in the tokens you received during the costume drop off dates at various locations (October 7-12) to get a “new” costume during the swap! You can also enjoy snake and turtle shows as well as recycled craft activities.

Angelina Ballerina The Musical  - Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank - Thursday, October 10, 4:00 p.m.

Jersey Shore Ghost Tours - October 11th - Red Bank - $12 per adult, $10 per kid

Haunted Express Train Rides at Allaire State Park, Wall - Oct 11 and 12 - Take a spooky nighttime ride and a walk through the haunted woods of Allaire State Park.  $7.50 per rider

Monmouth County Park System’s Creatures of the Night Halloween Hayrides- October 11 & 12, Huber Woods Park, Middletown - $8 per person

Pumpkin Picking and Fall Celebrations with Dearborn- Holmdel - Oct 12 - 14th - Take a roundtrip ride on the Hay Wagon out to the pumpkin patch, Use of our challenging Corn Maze, Use of our fun-to-climb Hay Bale Pyramid, Use of our happy Hay Bale Maze.  $3 per person.  On Saturday the 12th, do Scarecrow Stuffing as well for $8 per scarecrow.

Delicious Orchards Pumpkin Fest - FREE - Monday 10/14 - Pumpkin Fest is fun for all ages! Some of the fun and exciting plans we have arranged include: Live Music, Pumpkin Painting, Antique Tractors Display, and Free Food Samplings.  We look forward to sharing this fun filled weekend with you.

Teen at home in grades 9-12?  Two River Theater in Red Bank is hosting Open Auditions for A Little Shakespeare  - Open auditions for student actors, directors, designers, and stage managers in Grades 9-12 for a 75 minute, abridged version of William Shakespeare’s "As You Like It", adapted and directed by Jason McDowell-Green.
