Monmouth's Survey of the Homeless is Wednesday

Homeless people will also be connected with services that aim to provide safety, food, stability and shelter.

Assessing the scope of homelessness in Monmouth County will the focus of an annual effort on Wednesday by the county’s various social service departments, local not-for-profit organizations and volunteers.

Citizens without a permanent residence or who are at risk of being homeless are invited to visit one of three county locations, where they will be asked about services they need. 

They will also be offered coats, personal care items, free health screenings, flu shots, HIV testing, employment services and information for taking part in 2014 Project Homeless Connect. 

Also on-site will be representatives from Social Services (SNAPS - food stamps), Medicaid/Medicare, Employment & Training and Veterans Affairs.

Asbury Park – Jersey Shore Rescue Mission, 701 Memorial Dr., 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Freehold – New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, 133 Throckmorton St., 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Red Bank – Pilgrim Baptist Church, 172 Shrewsbury Ave. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (JBJ Soul Kitchen in Red Bank is offering hot meals to all Homeless Connect participants.)
