Former FMERA Vice Chair Michael Pane Dies at 45

Fair Haven resident Michael A. Pane died at Monmouth Medical Center on July 2 at 45 after a brief illness.

A resident of Fair Haven since 1998, Pane was an attorney with Ansell, Grimm and Aaron, Ocean, who authored Local Government Law, 4th Edition, published in 2007 in Thomson/West's New Jersey Practice Series. He was the vice chairman of the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) and served as its Real Estate Committee chairman, according to his obituary on the Thompson Memorial Home website.

He was also a member of Gov. Chris Christie's transition subcommittee charged with the state Department of Community Affairs' operation review.

Pane graduated from the Peddie School, Heightstown, and went on to get bachelor's degrees in Political Science and International Studies from Miami University in Ohio. He then got his Juris doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law and his master of law degree in International Business Practice from the University of Pacific McGeorge School of Law in California.

A parishioner of the Church of Nativity in Fair Haven, he was known as a devoted father who loved the Mets, Giants, cooking, gardening and spending time with his children, family and friends.

Pane is survived by: his wife of 16 years, Maryalice; his two children, Alexander and Clarissa; his mother, Frances H. Pane, of PA; his sister, Natalia Pane and husband Douglas Tyrka, of VA.

A memorial will be held at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 7. There will be a mass at Church of Nativity on July 8 at 10 a.m.
