Lifetime Red Bank Resident, 'Wheatie' Lewis, Dies at 75

Services are Saturday at Fisk AME Chapel, Fair Haven.

Lifetime Red Bank resident, Andrew James Lewis Sr., known as "Wheatie," passed away on Sunday, Sept. 1, at Neptune Nursing and Rehabilitation at 75.

Andrew graduated from Red Bank High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps before being honorably discharged in 1960. He retired from E. I. DuPont de Nemours, Parlin, in 1993, according to legacy.com, and was a member of Bates Lodge No. 220 and Celestial Lodge No. 36.

He was predeceased by: three brothers, Ralph, Howard Sr., and Hobart; and one sister, Alice.

He is survived by: two children, Roxanne and Andrew Jr.; two granddaughters, Jazmin and Ireana; two grandsons, Shameless and Jamar; two great grandchildren; four brothers, Jack Sr., George, Donald, and Virgil; six sisters, Pauline, Leola, Doris, Frances, Ruth, and Shirley and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, according to legacy.com.

Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. with a visitation at 9 a.m. at Fisk AME Chapel, 38 Fisk Street, Fair Haven.

A private interment will be held on Monday at William C. Doyle Veteran Cemetery in Wrightstown.
