Red Bank Resident Kim Byrd Dies at 51

Services begin on Tuesday.

Red Bank resident Kimearley "Kim" Byrd (formerly Stefanski) died at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, Aug. 7, after a long illness.

Kim, formerly of Atlantic Highlands, lived in Red Bank for the past 15 years. She graduated from Henry Hudson Regional High School, Highlands, in 1980. Kim was the convenience store manager at Brookdale Community College until she retired in 2011. She had a great love for the Brookdale community.

Kim was predeceased by: her father, Robert "SKI" Stefanski in 1991; her brother, Matthew Stefanski, in 1994, and her father-in-law, John Byrd, in 2011.

She is survived by: her husband of 28 years, Mark Byrd; her daughter, Courtney D. Byrd; her mother, Audrey Earley of Toms River; her sister, Amber, and husband Bruce Janosko and their sons, Michael and Phillip Janosko; her nephew, Kyle Jones; her mother-in-law, Priscilla Byrd; her brother-in-law, Eric, and his wife Rene Byrd and their children, Kody and Shealynn; her brother-in-law, Jeff Byrd and his wife Kelli, along with her lifelong friends, Diane, Joan, Peggy and Patty.

Kim leaves behind a large network of friends, who loved her gregarious nature, generous spirit and great sense of humor whose legacy will live in their hearts, her obituary said.

Kim enjoyed being an inventive gourmet chef and event planner. She enjoyed sailing, loved watching James Bond movies and was an avid NY Yankees fan.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at St. James RC Church, 94 Broad St., Red Bank.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Riverview Medical Center Foundation, Jane Booker Cancer Center, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
