Aggravated Assault and Resisting Arrest Alleged

Police say a Red Bank man beat another man causing a concussion and broken nose before resisting arrest.

A Red Bank man was arrested and charged with multiple crimes, including aggravated assault and resisting arrest stemming from an incident that took place on Bridge Avenue late Sunday night.

According to police, Cesar Vidal, a resident of the 200 block of South Bridge Ave., punched an unidentified victim several times in the face, head, and body resulting in serious injury, including a concussion and broken nose. The fight took place in Vidal's apartment just after 11 p.m. Sunday night, police said.

As police attempted to arrest Vidal, the 40 year old allegedly resisted, first by refusing to put his hands behind his back and later by physically resisting as officers attempted to place cuffs on his wrists, police reports show.

During processing at the , Vidal, 40, provided a phony name, police said, telling the investigating officers that he was Cesar Rivera-Martinez. Police were able to ascertain Vidal's identity after running a check of his fingerprints.

Vidal was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and obstruction. He was ordered held on $51,500 bail with no 10 percent option.
