Alleged Fair Haven Glass Smasher Charged with Red Bank Burglary

Jonathan B. Chapin allegedly burglarized Welsh Farms.

The Fair Haven 20-year-old man who is facing charges that took a sweater-wrapped axe to the front door of the Fair Haven Krauser's and kicked in the glass front of Bike Haven is also facing charges that he burglarized the Red Bank Welsh Farms, according to a complaint warrant.

On Sept. 14 at 1:52 a.m., the same day that he allegedly smashed in the glass of the two Fair Haven storefronts, Jonathan B. Chapin allegedly broke into the East Front Street Welsh Farms by smashing it's front door "with the intent to commit a theft," the complaint warrant said.

According to the complaint, Chapin allegedly admitted to the third-degree crime in a videotaped interview.

His bail was set at $11,000 by Judge William Himelman, with no 10 percent option.

Bail for the Fair Haven offenses totaled $15,000.
