Arrest in Blue Stove Antiques Robbery

After a near two-month investigation, the June has been solved, Fair Haven police announced Friday.

A Staten Island man has been arrested and charged with the robbery that occurred the morning of June 2, according to a release from Fair Haven Police Detective Steve Schneider.

On Aug. 31, members of the FBI, Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Fair Haven and Wall police departments issued arrested Robert Fiolka, 68, of Staten Island, NY and charged him with the armed robbery of the River Road antiques store, police said.

A warrant for Fiolka's arrest was issued by the FBI based on the results of the investigation, the released statement added.

Sgt. Jesse Dykstra and Schneider were the Fair Haven investigating officers.

According to the report issued by Fair Haven police the day of the alleged robbery, June 2, "at 9:21 a.m., a disguised subject entered the store and confronted the owner with a handgun, demanding he open the safe,"

Once the safe was opened, police said the suspect emptied the contents into a gym bag and fled the scene.

The suspect allegedly left the scene with mostly jewelry and watches, police added.

He was reportedly armed with a stainless steel revolver and was carrying a handheld scanner or radio, according to witnesses.

The suspect, reportedly fled eastbound on River Road operating a white compact vehicle, possibly a Nissan, with a vertical hatchback, bearing an out of state license plate.
