Arrests Made in Red Bank Stabbing Death

Two men were arrested and charged Monday with murder. A second stabbing victim remains hospitalized.

Two men have been arrested in the early Sunday morning stabbing death of Larry “Froggy” Yarbrough in Red Bank, Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Richard Incremona said Monday evening.

According to Incremona, Jose Francisco Oliveres-Palma and Genarro Guerrero-Montes, both of Red Bank, were charged with murder and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes Monday. Oliveres-Palma was also charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a second victim, who remains hospitalized in stable condition at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune.

Incremona said the stabbings occurred shortly after an altercation between two groups of men in front of 9 Bank Street before 4 a.m. Sunday morning. During the fight, Yarbrough, , was stabbed in the stomach and found by authorities lying in the middle of the street. Though emergency medical personnel attempted to treat the 39-year old Yarbrough, he succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.

The men identified by the prosecutor’s office all come from the same neighborhood on the west side of Red Bank. Oliveres-Palma is a River Street resident while Guerrero-Montes is a Bank Street resident. Yarbrough and Rosas-Oceloti live on Shrewsbury Avenue, and Bank Street, respectively.

Oliveres-Palma was ordered held on $2 million bail. Guerro-Montes’ bail has been set at $1 million.

Incremona could not speculate on how the fight started or what caused it to escalate, but did say the investigation into the incident continues. He did not rule out the possibility of more arrests.

“There’s no way to know if there are going to be any more arrests,” he said. “There’s no way to know, yet, if anyone else contributed to the one victim’s death, but we’ll continue looking into it.”
