Fire Prevention Expo Set For This Weekend

The Red Bank Fire Department will be hosting a fire prevention expo Sunday.

The Red Bank Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its annual Fire Prevention Expo and free barbeque in the White Street Parking lot across from Liberty Hose this Sunday, Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the department announced.

The goal of the expo is to make the public aware of the importance of fire safety. The department will focus on the need for fire safety for all people ranging from children to seniors. The free event will consist of fire safety demonstrations and information, a fire apparatus display and free food.

Children can visit a smoke house trailer and participate in other activities.

According to the department, the event is being held in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, which begins Sunday. The week has its roots in the Great Chicago Fire, which killed more than 250 people and destroyed more than 17,400 buildings in a little over a day.

A rain date has been set for Oct. 14.
