Indicted Red Bank Man Arrested on Heroin Charges

Resident charged with possessing drugs with intent to distribute, tampering with evidence

A Red Bank man currently under indictment on an eluding charge was arrested Wednesday and charged with drug crimes.

Avery D. Carroll, 36, of Towerhill Avenue is accused of possessing heroin and tampering with evidence after a drug investigation at a Maple Avenue home, according to complaints filed with Superior Court.

Carroll was in possession of 21 bags of heroin that bore the description "24/7," as well as a hypodermic needle, according to the complaints.

Carroll is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in lieu of $51,000 bail, no 10 percent option.

Carroll also faces additional charges out of Red Bank after a grand jury indicted him Tuesday on an eluding charge.

He led a police officer on a chase in Red Bank and Little Silver on Sept. 21 instead of stopping after the officer signaled for him to do so, the indictment charges.

Additionally, a state criminal database shows Carroll entered a guilty plea to a drug charge in March 2012.
