National Night Out Against Crime in Red Bank

The national event brings police and the community together.

The Red Bank Police Department, borough council and District 12 legislators will host a National Night Out event in concordance with police departments throughout the United States Tuesday.

National Night Out is a community crime prevention program that takes place each year on the first Tuesday of August and is designed to help foster a partnership between the community and its police force against crime.

This year’s event in Red Bank begins at 6pm at the police department at 90 Monmouth St. and includes a walk with the community through the borough with a return to the department. There will also be a number of community organizations present with information about various programs.

There will also be a “drunk driving” goggle obstacle course, a radar baseball throw, and child identification.

Several organizations are slated to attend and participate along with the police department, including Red Bank Parks and Recreation, Red Bank Senior Center, Red Bank Public Library, Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County, Red Bank Safe Routes Group, 180 Turning Lives Around, YMCA, Visiting Nurses Association, and Red Bank Family Resource Center.

            The local PBA and Super Foodtown of Red Bank will be supplying food and refreshments.
