Police: Asbury Park Woman Assaulted Shrewsbury Officer

Woman also faces drug charges

An Asbury Park woman is charged with assaulting a Shrewsbury police officer who was making an arrest.

Tykia Moore, 19, of Central Avenue was arrested on drug charges Jan. 10 in Shrewsbury. 

However, Moore resisted officers, according to complaints filed with Superior Court.

She refused to follow officers' orders and "purposely" struck Patrolman Ryan Cullinane in the leg with a car door, according to the complaints.

Moore had less than 50 grams of suspected marijuana in her possession, as well as drug paraphernalia, police said.

She was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Moore was held on $20,000 bail, 10 percent option allowed.

She will make her first appearance in court Jan. 22.
