Two out-of-town men are facing robbery and aggravated assault charges stemming from an incident in Red Bank on Tuesday.

Police arrested Joseph, Aviles, 37, of 646 Morford Ave., Long Branch, and Patrick Brock, of 1498 Rustic Drive, Asbury Park, after the two were allegedly witnessed committing a robbery in the area of West Bergen Place and Bridge Avenue, according to police.

While in the process of the theft, both also allegedly used physical force and injured the victim. Aviles, according to the complaint warrant, hit the victim in the neck and chest in an act of alleged aggravated assault.

Both have been charged with robbery, which involves use of physical force as opposed to burglary, police said. Aviles was also charged with aggravated assault due to the extent of the injuries inflicted.

Aviles was held on $200,000 bail, with no 10 percent option, set by Judge William Himelman.

Brock was held on $100,000 bail, with no 10 percent option, also set by Judge Himelman.

A court date has been set for both on July 11 at 8:30 a.m.
