A Red Bank woman is behind bars after police say she assaulted her three children over the course of several years, including throwing one of her sons down the stairs, in multiple incidents in both Red Bank and Long Branch.

Imelda Paz allegedly abused her three children, boys ages 13 and 10 and an eight-year-old daughter, in incidents spread out between 2007 and January, 2012 at their home in Red Bank and previously Long Branch. In one incident, police said Paz placed her 13-year-old son in a plastic bag, tied it up by his legs, and threw him down a set of stairs. The alleged assaults did not result in any serious injuries, police said.

Paz's age or address was not immediately available. The names of the children were not released by police because of their ages.
