Red Bank Police: Drug Arrests, Theft Reports

Weekly police activity in the borough

Red Bank police arrested several on drug charges in the past week and also recorded several incidents of thefts in the borough.

Arrests

  • David Rice, 29, of Kendall Park was arrested Jan. 9 in the area of Bridge Avenue and charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
  • Steven Hopkins, 22, of Tinton Falls was arrested Jan. 9 in the area of Shrewsbury Avenue and accused of possessing less than 50 grams of marijuana.
  • in the area of Maple Avenue and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.

Carroll was in possession of 21 bags of heroin that bore the description "24/7," as well as a hypodermic needle, according to complaints filed with Superior Court.

The borough man also tried to destroy the heroin after being arrested and transported to headquarters, police said.

Carroll also faces additional charges out of Red Bank after a grand jury indicted him last week on an eluding charge.

He led a police officer on a chase in Red Bank and Little Silver on Sept. 21 instead of stopping after the officer signaled for him to do so, the indictment charges.

  • Timothy Johnson, 27, of Red Bank was arrested Jan. 9 in the area of Montgomery Terrace on possession of marijuana and contempt of court charges.
  • A 17-year-old Red Bank boy was arrested Jan. 6 in the area of Oakland Street on charges of possession and consumption of alcohol while underage, curfew violation and possession of an open container of alcohol.
  • Grant Henning, 18, of Little Silver was arrested Jan. 6 in the area of Oakland Street on a charge of possessing alcohol while underage.
  • Marguerit Miles, 21, of Rumson was arrested on Jan. 5 in the area of East Front Street on a drunken driving charge.

Theft reports

  • Someone working out reported to police that a red fleece coat and pair of Coach sunglasses were stolen Jan. 8 while at a West Front Street gym.
  • A motorist parked on Riverside Avenue reported Jan. 7 that cash was stolen out of the vehicle.
  • A T-Mobile cell phone was reported stolen Jan. 7 from the Red Bank Middle School.

Additionally, Little Silver police took several theft reports last month from students at Red Bank Regional High School who claimed their cell phones were stolen during the school days.
