Red Bank Man Allegedly Burglarizes Same West Bergen Place Apartment Twice

Mario P. Sciacca's court date is set for Oct. 17.

A Red Bank man is being held in Monmouth County Correctional Institution in lieu of a total of $170,000 bail as he faces burglary, theft and criminal mischief charges stemming from September and October incidents in the borough.

Police arrested Mario P. Sciacca, 33, of 116 West Bergen Place, on Oct. 14 for allegedly burglarizing an apartment in his complex and stealing belongings from it valued at more than $10,000 after gaining entrance through a rear window and "causing damage in excess of $500 (value)" on Oct. 14 at about 3:30 a.m., the complaint warrant said.

The warrant said, in addition, that Sciacca allegedly confessed "during the course of a videotaped interview" by police.

Bail was set for $85,000, with no 10 percent option by Judge William Himelman.

Sciacca also stands accused of burglarizing the same apartment once before on Sept. 8 and allegedly stole roughly $1,000 worth of belongings while causing about $500 in damage to a rear sliding glass door through which he allegedly entered to commit the burglary, the complaint said.

Bail for that incident was also set at $85,000, with no 10 percent option.

Sciacca's initial appearance in court to face the charges was set for Sept. 17 at 8:30 a.m.
