Red Bank Man Arrested on Assault on Officer, Resisting Arrest Charges

Matthew Thompson's bail was set at $20,000, with no 10 percent option.

A Red Bank man has been arrested on resisting arrest and assault charges in connection with an incident on Bridge Avenue in the borough.

Matthew Thompson, 55, of 144 Bridge Avenue, was arrested on Nov. 12 at about 11:30 p.m. on Bridge Avenue after he fled on foot and allegedly used physical force against a police officer who was "attempting to effect a lawful arrest in an attempt to precent his own apprehension" causing injury to the officer, the complaint warrant said.

The charges against Thompson are both third-degree offenses.

Bail was set at $20,000 with no 10 percent option by Judge William Himelman. Thompson is slated for his first appearance in municipal court on Nov. 14 at 8:30 a.m.
