Red Bank Man Arrested on Drug, Assault on Officer Charges

Charles Wilson allegedly had marijuana, cocaine and MDMA in his possession within school and park zones.


A Red Bank man has been arrested on drug dealing and possession as well as aggravated assault on an officer charges stemming from a Thursday afternoon incident in the borough.

At about 12:45 p.m., Red Bank Police Patrolman Garrett Falco observed a group of what he described as suspicious men on South Pearl Street, possibly using narcotics, according to a release from Capt. Darren McConnell.

Upon approaching the group to investigate, Falco reported that one of them, Charles Wilson, 26, became uncooperative and attempted to flee, inciting a physical fight with the officer, according to the police report.

Wilson was arrested and charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances, identified as marijuana, cocaine, and MDMA, possession with intent to distribute, possession within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession within 500 feet of a public park, aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and obstructing the administration of law, McConnell said.

Wilson's bail was set at $233,500, with no 10 percent option. He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution where he is still being held.
