Red Bank Man Charged with Aggravated Assault in Domestic Incident

Warrant issued following release from psychiatric hospital.

A Red Bank man is currently being held in county jail on bail on allegations that he assaulted an unidentified victim in his Spring Street home causing significant injury, including internal bleeding of the brain.

Taylor Viscuso, 32, of the 300 Block of Spring Street, was arrested by borough police on March 27 and charged with aggravated assault following a domestic incident. Sometime following his arrest, however, Viscuso was ordered to Trenton Psychiatric Hospital in Ewing, presumably, for evaluation of his mental state.

In an appearance before Monmouth County Superior Court last week following his release from the hospital, Judge John Colannino ordered Viscuso held in county jail in lieu of $10,000 bail with no 10-percent option.

According to police reports, Viscuso was arrested following an attack on an unidentified victim at approximately 10pm, March 27. Police said Viscuso knocked the victim to the ground and proceeded to choke and punch the victim in the face. The report issued by the arresting officer said injuries to the victim were visible, including a cut over the right eye and contusion above the left eye. The attack also caused brain bleeding in the victim, the report said.

The condition of the victim was not immediately known, though charges levied against the suspect do not suggest that the attack was fatal or appreciably more damaging.
