Red Bank Men Accused of Arson, Theft, Stabbing

Police complaints allege the two suspects committed several crimes in relation to two robberies.

Borough say two Red Bank men went on an early morning crime spree in which they committed robbery, assaulted two people, including stabbing one, and finished the night by pouring gas on a car and setting it on fire near Mohawk Pond on the west side of town.

Jason Hall, 20, and Dashuan Clayton, 21, were arrested on July 12, the same day of their alleged crimes, and each charged with aggravated arson, robbery, attempted robbery, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and two counts of aggravated assault.

Clayton also was charged with receiving stolen property.

According to police reports, Hall, of 84 Bank St., and Clayton, 135 Montgomery Terrace, began the night by attempting to rob an unknown person in the 100 block of River Street at approximately 1:39 a.m. During the course of the attempted robbery, the victim was stabbed six times with an unknown cutting instrument causing serious injury, police said.

The status of the stabbing victim is currently unknown.

The second alleged aggravated assault took place nearly an hour and a half later a few blocks away in the 200 block of South Pearl St. At approximately 3 a.m., Hall and Clayton punched a second unidentified victim in the face while stealing the victim's jewelry, police said.

The last incident took place at around 5 a.m. Police said Hall and Clayton committed aggravated arson by dousing a vehicle with an accelerant on Mohawk Lane and setting it on fire. Previous reports indicate that the vehicle was pushed into Mohawk Pond after it was burned.

It is unclear if the three incidents are connected.

Hall was lodged in Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold on $425,000 cash bail with no 10 percent option. Clayton was lodged on $280,000 bail with no 10 percent option.

(Update: 11:50 a.m.)  Lamar Hicks, 27, of Long Branch, Kadean Lane, 20, of Tinton Falls were also arrested and charged with the same crimes as Hall and Clayton. Police also arrested Luchretia Jackson, 26, of Red Bank, and charged her with one count of robbery.
