Red Bank Teen Arrested, Charged with Aggravated Assault on Two Officers

Rene Tepoz-Santamaria is due in court on Jan. 9.

A Red Bank teen is facing charges of aggravated assault on two police officers stemming from a Jan. 5 incident in the borough.

Rene A. Tepoz-Santamaria, 18, of 91 Washington St., allegedly attempted to cause bodily injury to Patrolman Paul Perez while trying to prevent his arrest during an investigation on Oakland Street at 4:35 p.m. Tepoz-Santamaria allegedly "used his right knee to strike the officer in the left side," the complaint warrant said.

Tepoz-Santamaria also allegedly assaulted Patrolman Garrett Falco at the same time in the same place by "pushing against the officer's right shoulder with his left hand in order to knock him down" in an attempt to prevent the arrest, the complaint said.

Bail was set at a total of $34,500, with no 10 percent option, by Judge William Himelman.

His initial appearance in court is slated for Jan. 9 at 8:30 a.m.
