Route 37 Gas Station Robbed; Second Armed Robbery in Toms River Within A Day

Suspect made off with about $100 from the Route 37 Delta gas station

Toms River police are investigating an armed robbery at a Route 37 gas station Wednesday evening, the second that day in the township.

About $100 was stolen from the Delta service station just before 6 p.m. Wednesday when an unidentified man with a semi-automatic handgun demanded money from a 24-year-old attendant in his booth, said Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.

"The suspect is a black male wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and black scarf covering his face," Mastronardy said.

The attendant told police that the man, who appeared to be 6 feet tall, ran across Lakehurst Road and down Patmas Drive, according to Mastronardy. The attendant was not injured in the encounter.

At about midnight Wednesday, . Police are searching for that suspect and released surveillance footage of the incident Wednesday evening.

Toms River Police Department Officer Frank Lauria and Detectives John Turner and Brian Lomer are investigating along with the Ocean County Sheriff's Department, Mastronardy said.

The man that held up the gas station is a maron. What he did was wrong and he deserve to go to jail. But nobody was concern about the man that was held up I hope that he's ok because a gun held up to you is no joke. He was very close on losen his life. Its seem that toms river gotten worst and the drugs in toms river are worst then lakewood & asbury when are we going to clean up here because lakewood & asbury is safter to live then toms river.

Arm the attendants with a high power mace pepper spray combo and give these guys a taste of the whole bottle. Then use his head to open the door to call your buddys and then give him a good thump party. Being caught by the police is nothing let him party with us.
