Shrewsbury Fire Co. Christens New Trucks

The company celebrated the arrival of two trucks.

The members of the Shrewsbury Hose Company No. 1 were joined recently by firefighters from all over Monmouth County to celebrate and christen a special new arrival — of two fire trucks.

One of the new trucks was the KME engine, christened at the May 18 dedication by Shrewsbury Borough Council President Tom Menapace, as Mayor Donald Burden was out of town. The other apparatus, a medium duty rescue truck, was christened by Councilman Jeff DeSalvo, liaison to the fire company.

There was a short speech from Shrewsbury Hose Company No. 1 President John Merris, Vice President Bob Wentway said. There were thank yous to the residents and officials of Shrewsbury followed by festivities.

"The rain that came later in the day did little to dampen the good time," Wentway said.
