Shrewsbury First Aid Squad Responds to 130 Calls During 2013's First Quarter

Squad assisted with fire and bomb scare

The following is a Shrewsbury First Squad report from member Rolf Kamp:

The Shrewsbury First Aid Squad responded to 130 calls during 2013's first quarter.

Sixty five of these calls were to residents while 75 calls were to businesses.

Two noteworthy events took place:

• Eleven Shrewsbury First Aiders served 86 hours at the Sycamore Avenue fire on Feb. 4. Also assisting were first aiders from Little Silver, Tinton Falls, Eatontown, and Oceanport, along with the Red Cross and the Monmouth County Rehab Unit.

• On March 14, seven Shrewsbury First Aiders served 20 hours evacuating 108 residents during a bomb scare at Brandywine Assisted Living. Mutual aid was provided by Eatontown, Tinton Falls South and Red Bank first aid, along with 5 members of the Monmouth County OEMS.
