Tinton Falls Man Pulled Knife on Red Bank Officers, Police Say

Cameron Keyes faces assault and weapons possession charges.

A Tinton Falls man is accused of pulling a folding knife on two Red Bank officers after a traffic stop escalated.

Police stopped Cameron Keyes, 19, on Leighton Avenue at 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday. When Patrolman Stanley Balmer and Patrolman David Hicks found an active warrant on Keyes out of Neptune, they attempted to take him into custody, according to a press release from the Red Bank Police Department.

Keyes allegedly brandished the knife. Balmer was able to disarm Keyes, who spit at officers and continued to violently resist arrest, police said. He was eventually taken into custody.

Keyes was charged with marijuana possession, weapons possession, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and traffic offense. He was remanded to Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $131,000 bail.
