FEMA Extension for Irene Victims in Red Bank and Shrewsbury

Deadline for filing proof of loss claims now extended to Jan. 23, 2012

In the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, thousands of homeowners in the Red Bank-Shrewsbury area found themselves with everything from downed trees to flooded basements. Though Irene proved to not be the harbinger of the end of the world, the resulting mess from the heavy winds and rain from the category one storm was significant, nevertheless.

Now, those who put off applying for aid or looking into how to qualify have been given a reprieve.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced a 60-day extension for the proof of loss deadline for flood victims of Hurricane Irene from Nov. 23 to Jan. 23, 2012, under the National Flood Insurance Program.
