Horgan Tapped for Assembly Race

Red Bank Councilwoman Kathy Horgan will replace Marilyn Schlossbach, who was forced to withdraw from the race.

Red Bank Councilwoman Kathy Horgan was nominated as the Democratic candidate for State Assembly in the recently redistricted 11th legislative district, the Monmouth County Democrats announced early Thursday morning.

Horgan, who Red Bank Councilman Ed Zipprich said was the top vote getter in Red Bank’s last election, will replace restaurateur Marilyn Schlossbach, of Asbury Park, who was forced to withdraw her candidacy after several of her businesses suffered significant damage from Hurricane Irene.

Horgan will join businessman Vin Gopal on the assembly ticket, along with State Senate candidate and former prosecutor Ray Santiago.
