Red Bank Train Station Named for Justice O'Hern

Daniel O'Hern was a former Supreme Court Justice and Red Bank Mayor.

A recent bill signed into law by Gov. Chris Christie designates the Red Bank Train Station as the “Daniel J. O’Hern Station – Red Bank New Jersey,” in honor of Justice Daniel O’Hern, a state Supreme Court Justice and former Red Bank Mayor who dedicated his life to serving the people of New Jersey, a release states.

In an emailed release from state Sen. Jen Beck, and Assemblypersons Declan O’Scanlon and Caroline Casagrande, all dustrict 12 representatives, the three legislators lauded the move as one that honors at civil servant who worked to benefit the lives of Red Bank and state residents.

“He worked tirelessly to leave the world a better place for future generations,” O’Scanlon said. “As mayor of Red Bank, he personally helped to pain the Red Bank Train Station and believed it to be an important historic landmark in our borough.”

According to Councilman Ed Zipprich, . In addition to a new paint job, the building, which is on the National Historic Register, will also receive a new roof and other cosmetic fixes courtesy NJ Transit.
