Returning Councilmen to Take Oaths at Shrewsbury Reorganization

Annual meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight

Returning Councilmen Anthony Pellegrino and Jeff DeSalvo will take their oaths of office tonight when the Shrewsbury Borough Council reorganizes.

The governing body will hold its annual reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Center, 419 Sycamore Ave., Shrewsbury, with a regular meeting to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Pellegrino and DeSalvo both said on election night that controlling taxes will be their chief concern during their new, three-year terms.

"It's all about the economy right now and controlling the spending; keeping taxes down," Pellegrino had said. "The whole area, everyone is hurting and we've got to do our best to keep residents happy."

The council also will entertain a vote for a council president. Councilman Tom Menapace currently holds the distinction.
