Voluntary Evacuations in Shrewsbury

Residents living in low-lying are asked to leave.

Shrewsbury police have issued voluntary evacuations for residents in several low-lying areas. While police stress that evacuations aren't mandatory, if your home is prone to flooding, you should attempt to find shelter in another location.

According to the Shrewsbury Police website:

At this time, those residents in the areas of Blades Run, Dorchester Way, Sunnybank Dr. Trafalgar Place and Monroe Ave. are encouraged to voluntarily evacuate, as you are in an area with a high potential to flood. You should relocate to a location inland like afriend or family member’s house, preferably west of the Garden State Parkway. Prior to evacuation, please turn off all household utility services at the main shut-off. If you do not have a place to go, emergency evacuation shelters are available at Wall Township High School, Holmdel High School and a third shelter will open at 8 a.m. Saturday morning at the Colts Neck High School.

Again, voluntary evacuations are urged right now. If your house has flooded in the past, you are likely to flood during this storm.
