A new frozen yogurt dispensary gets the OK pending consideration from Red Bank RiverCenter.

Yo Mon Yogurt could open in just a few weeks after receiving a resolution of approval from the Thursday night.

The applicant is seeking approval to install awnings on the outside of its storefront in the Centre City Plaza on West Front Street, which should come at the zoning board's next monthly meeting. Delaying approval two weeks is the opinion of the RiverCenter Visual Improvement Committee.

Though asked to consider the site plan a week ago, Red Bank RiverCenter failed to deliver an opinion on the proposed awnings by Thursday's meeting as it prepares for this weekend's .

Should RiverCenter find no objection to the awnings the site plan will likely earn board approval.

Yo Mon's attorney Jason Tuvel said the yogurt shop is capable of opening in a week after ordering its awnings, should they be approved. Yo Mon has been biding its time while seeking final approvals, apparently ready to go. The shop earned original site plan approval from the zoning board in October.

When it opens, Yo Mon will join Frozurt and Kravings in Red Bank frozen yogurt game. Yo Mon, which has an original location in Freehold, is a serve yourself yogurt dispensary where customers decide which flavor of yogurt and how much they want and top it with dozens of available toppings.

RiverCenter has been given a deadline of May 9 to respond. Should it fail to comment on the site plan the board will assume that it has no objections and proceed with the approval at its May 17 meeting.
