Rockit! For Kids Donate $2,800 to Music Department at Union Beach Memorial School

ROCKIT! FOR KIDS DONATE $2,800 TO MUSIC DEPARTMENT AT UNION BEACH MEMORIAL SCHOOL

At the Union Beach, NJ Town Meeting on Tuesday, January 29th, the Rockit! kids donated a check from funds they raised, to the Music Department at the Union Beach Memorial School.   Together, the Rockit! kids worked on an acoustic medley, including “With A Little Help From My Friends” which they performed live.  Music is such a big part of their lives, they don’t want other kids to be deprived of the same opportunity.

The Rockit! for Kids Program is the premiere rock'n'roll experience for young musicians ages 8 to 18. Run by Founder and Director Bruce Gallipani, kids who pass auditions, participate in a seven-week group program where they learn a specific repertoire of songs, supplemented with individual instruction. Around forty-five young musicians divvy up to form separate groups who together, at the program’s end, perform in concert at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank.  Rockit! is part of the Basie Theatre’s Performing Arts Academy program.

The Rockit! program teaches its students the importance of community charity efforts. Rockit! regularly performs at fundraising events and hospitals in support of children’s cancer, cerebral palsy, autism, and partners with various schools offering scholarships in the performing arts.
