Last Chance: School Budget Discussion

The Red Bank School District is hosting a budget discussion and breakfast Saturday morning at the Middle School.

The Red Bank Board of Education is inviting parents to attend a budget discussion at Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and is offering free breakfast and babysitting to help sweeten the deal.

Superintendent Laura Morana and Business Administrator Annie Darrow will present the district's 2012-13 budget, which includes a tax increase as well as significant cuts to school programs and extra curricular events.

The school budget is $20.834 million, which includes local taxes, state aid, debt service, and entitlements, among other costs. Of that total, $12.652 million is to be raised through the local tax levy. The local tax increase is $383,988, or about 1.1 cent per $100 of assessed property value.
