Racing and Raising Money with the Shrewsbury 5K

The annual race, hosted by the Shrewsbury Foundation for Education, attracted approximately 300 runners.

Each year the Shrewsbury Foundation for Education hosts the Shrewsbury 5K, an event that attracts hundreds of runners and serves as the organization's largest fundraiser.ย

Though the official tally isn't in just yet, signs are pointing to this year being one of, if not the, best fundraising races to date. Race Chair Jen Gilmartin said the race, which typically sees about 200 runners participate in either the 5K race or one-mile run that sets off from the Shrewsbury Boro School and winds through the borough's west end, had approximately 300 people sign up this year.

Overall, she said the event raised more than $20,000 to be put towards technology purchases for the school, including 60 iPads as part of a pilot program.
